When The Turf Skatepark closed in 1996, Milwaukee lost a cultural landmark. In response, Turf local Al Partanen founded PUPIL, creating a new hub for skateboarding, music, and art. As his career took him to California, Parts evolved PUPIL into SPACE PUPIL, a brand celebrating community, creativity and pushing skate culture forward.

Now, as Grindline Skateparks rebuilds The Turf—set to reopen in Spring 2025—SPACE PUPIL renews its mission to “Build Culture.” This collaboration honors Milwaukee’s skateboarding legacy and celebrates a new era of creativity, community, and skateboarding.
