FOUNDER & VISIONARY

MARK "MONK" HUBBARD

1970 – 2018

Mark “Monk” Hubbard (October 27, 1970 – June 8, 2018) was the visionary founder of Grindline Skateparks. A respected and trusted leader, Mark was deeply involved in every aspect of our work, from the initial design phase through to the final construction. His hands-on approach ensured that the skateparks Grindline delivered were of the highest quality—ever-evolving, top-tier spaces that have become synonymous with legendary skatepark design.

Mark’s revolutionary design style embraced “organic flow”—creating gently undulating walls and cascading transitions that engaged in a dynamic dialogue with the surrounding environment. This innovative approach became the cornerstone of Grindline’s work and set us apart in the skatepark industry.

Under Mark’s leadership, Grindline designed and built over 350 skateparks worldwide, many of which have become iconic locations in the skateboarding community. His commitment to skateboarding, the spaces he created, and the people who use them has left a lasting impact on the culture.

Mark’s influence extended far beyond skatepark construction. As a musician he led Grindline The Band, performing at major skateboarding events across the globe. He was a beloved husband and father of three.

Monk’s legacy lives on through the skateparks Grindline continues to build. His vision, creativity, and passion for skateboarding continue to inspire us as we carry his vision forward, creating spaces that serve and inspire skateboarders everywhere.
