As Senior Project Manager, James ensures Grindline projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the high standards of craftsmanship the company is known for. He facilitates a seamless process between clients, designers, and construction crews from initial planning to the finished product. With unparalleled expertise in every phase of skatepark development, James plays a critical role in bringing each project to life.
With over 30 years in the construction industry and more than two decades at Grindline, James is deeply involved in all aspects of the company. A lifelong skateboarder, he brings both passion and expertise to his work. In addition to managing design projects, he is a highly skilled AutoCAD and Rhino technician with extensive experience in graphic and drafting multimedia.
James is responsible for construction cost estimating for all projects, from conceptual design to public works bids. Working closely with the design and construction teams, he provides real-time cost estimates based on actual construction expenses. His responsiveness ensures smooth coordination throughout the design, bid, and construction phases, allowing projects to move forward efficiently and effectively.
Throughout his career, James has played a pivotal role in the development of many renowned skateparks across the country, including numerous projects in Washington state. A core mission for James is to create public skateboarding opportunities for kids who might not otherwise have access—something he lacked in his own youth. Many of his favorite projects have been in underserved communities that previously had no designated places to skate. Among them, the Anacortes, Omak, and Republic skateparks—each located along Highway 20—stand out, despite being in vastly different parts of the state.
His dedication to excellence and innovation has made him an invaluable member of the Grindline team and a trusted partner for communities looking to build world-class skateparks.
