Dave Palmer, aka “Shaggy,” has been immersed in skateboarding since childhood, leading to an eight-year career as a professional skateboarder. Since 1994, he has skated for Beer City Skateboards, a testament to his deep roots in the DIY skate scene. In 1997, he transitioned into skatepark construction, joining the crew that built the original Vans skateparks across the country. In 2002, he co-founded Grindline Skateparks alongside Rob “Rabbi” Owen and the legendary Mark “Monk” Hubbard, beginning his 25-year journey of shaping the company’s legacy of creating world-class concrete skateparks.
With decades of hands-on experience in design and construction, Shaggy is a highly creative thinker who brings innovation and real-life skateboarding experience to every project. His deep knowledge comes from skating hundreds of backyard pools—countless experiences and adventures that shine through in his work, bringing flow, speed, and perfect transition to every build. As Site Superintendent and Foreman, he leads crews on Grindline projects across the country, all year long, ensuring each build meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and functionality. He takes pride and ownership over every task, leaving his signature mark on everything he touches.
Shaggy puts his heart on the line to make every project into a masterpiece. Whether shaping transition, running heavy equipment, or mentoring the next generation, he continues to embody the spirit of Grindline—crafting parks that inspire skaters and stand the test of time.
